Social-Emotional Learning

Thurgood Marshall Middle School knows how important social-emotional learning is for students. To maximize social-emotional learning, we have two School Counselors, a full-time Social Worker, and a Restorative Practices Assistant on our staff.

Morning Meetings occur every morning prior to the start of first block. Morning Meetings are an engaging way to start each day, build a strong sense of community, and set children up for success socially and academically. Each morning, students and teachers gather together in a circle for a few minutes and interact with one another during four purposeful components.

We offer SEL Wednesdays weekly during PLT classes. Second Step and Sown to Grow are the platforms that are used for SEL.
